# Privacy Policy: Nearbyy Last updated: 12.07.2026 We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. ## Information We Collect Location Data: Nearbyy uses your precise location to find interesting places, local events, recent news, road information, and useful stops near you. If you start monitoring, Nearbyy may continue using your location in the background so it can surface discoveries during your drive. Your location, or the center of an area you choose on the map, is sent to our server. Our server sends it to Google to find nearby places and research relevant stories and updates. Story and Language Data: We send nearby place details, your selected language, and the area being searched to Google so it can research and write the stories shown in the app. When you choose to hear a story, the story text and selected language are sent directly from your device to Google to create the audio. Nearbyy does not record or send your voice. No Account or Personal Data: Nearbyy does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, Apple ID, or advertising identifier. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. Basic Technical Data: Our server processes your IP address in memory to limit excessive requests and protect the service. The server also creates technical logs about request timing, errors, result counts, and research steps. These logs are used only to operate and improve the service. ## How We Use Your Information We use your location only to provide nearby discoveries, searches, stories, shops, and road or local information. We use your selected language to return stories and speech in that language. We do not use your information for advertising or to build a profile about you. ## Sharing Your Information We do not sell your personal data. Location, nearby place details, search context, and story text are shared with Google services only when needed to provide the app's features. Google may process this data according to its own privacy policy. Apple provides system services used by the app, including maps, location, notifications and audio. Apple may process related data according to its own privacy policy. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers. ## Data Storage & Security Nearbyy stores your settings, recent discoveries, nearby places, shops, notification history, and searched map areas locally on your device. The local discovery cache can contain coordinates and is kept for up to 90 days, with a limit of 80 saved areas. Our server processes search requests in real time. We do not create an account for you or store a location history linked to you. We use HTTPS to protect data sent between the app, our server, and Google services. ## Your Choices You can stop location access at any time in your iPhone Settings. You can choose "While Using the App" access instead of background location access, but discoveries will then only update while the app is in use. You can turn off notifications in your iPhone Settings. You can avoid sending story text for speech by not using the "Hear story" feature. Deleting the app removes its locally stored settings, cached discoveries, and searched areas. ## Children's Privacy Nearbyy is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. ## Changes to This Policy We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. ## Contact If you have questions about this policy, contact us at: jan.metz.software@gmail.com
